Meghna Krishnamurthy

I chose Pitt/CMU MSTP because of its warm and supportive community of students, and the breadth of research opportunities and avenues for collaboration across the two institutions.

Outside of class, I am a part of the Culinary Medicine and Mind Body Medicine groups, mentor in Giving a Boost and Women in Health, and birdwatching around campus/nearby parks in the city!

Research Interests

My research uses neuroimaging, behavioral methods, and computational approaches to explore how social interactions shape cognitive and social development. I am particularly interested in how parent-child neural synchrony and early-life social environments influence the development of social cognition and quantitative reasoning in children. By integrating multimodal imaging methods and computational modeling, I aim to understand how early social experiences shape learning trajectories across development.

I’m pursuing a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at CMU, where my research uses multimodal neuroimaging methods to understand how early childhood environments shape development and how social experiences influence cognitive function, neural development, and adaptation to stress. Clinically, I’m interested in neurology or psychiatry, with a focus on women’s health.
