Eric Mason

I chose the Pitt/CMU MSTP program because I felt a strong sense of community during second look. People were more interested in how they could help me understand if the school was a good fit for me, rather than convince me that it was; and that level of transparency was something I knew that I needed in a program.

In addition, this program cares about making you a good physician-scientist, and it shows that by nurturing your research interest and not forcing you to stay committed to one thing. I found my passions in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute and I can genuinely say that I am very excited to conduct research during my PhD years.

Outside of the program, I love training for hyrox, lifting, run club, electronic dance music, and anime! A fun fact about me is that I have 16 siblings and in a past life could run a mile in 4:05.
